Japan Day 13 – Mt. Haruna

Last day… our last full day in Japan. Unfortunately for you all, I don’t have much to write about today. But, I think we saved one of the best for last :) So I guess i’ll jump right in. Today was the day we decided to rent a car! Why the hell anyone would want to rent a car while in the Tokyo area i’ll never know, as you can get anywhere by train and its cheap. Plus, there’s no parking anywhere… At all. Needless to say we didn’t rent the car to just drive around Tokyo, though we did spend a majority of the time driving stuck in traffic, and or getting turned around the wrong direction :P oh well such is life :) When we left in the morning we really had 2 destinations in mind, one being the beach/sea, and the other was halfway across the country to the west. Halfway across the country? Heh yea, but don’t forget its like the size of California so halfway is maybe 150-200km. How should we start? Guess we’ll just go with enjoy the ride!

Don’t get your easts and wests mixed up:

Japan Day 12 – Shibuya/Ikebukuro

We did a couple of short check it out types of trips today. First stop was Shibuya it started raining hard while we were here, so we didn’t do too much. Checked out some shops, walked around a little bit etc etc. They had a fairly large overhead walkway structure that was roughly the shape of a square so Dave took some pics from up there:

After we packed out from there we headed over to Ikebukuro to check things out. Read on for more.

Day 11, day 11, that means it’s almost time to come home :( I think its gone by faster than I thought it would. Sad thing is we haven’t even left yet, and I already want to come back! Needless to say thats not why we’re here. So what did we do today? Welp after breakfast we headed over to Ueno, there’s a huge park there. So what better to do than check it out and see the huge fountain and lake thats there? Here’s some pics of the park:

More pics and the rest of the day here.

Japan Day 10 – Shinjuku part deux

Another slowish day for us, we went back to Shinjuku for more shopping, got a few things and headed back. We did get a chance to partake in the food from a restaurant called First Kitchen. They’ve got some great burgers, multiple flavors of fries and some amazing cream soda drink. This drink is like a root beer float with melon soda, very tasty so I hear as I didn’t try one. That pretty much sums up the day, oh yea Dave got a hawaiian style shirt and some new shorts at the local department store as today lol.

Here’s an anime pic to tide you over until we’ve got some real stuff :P :

Japan Day 9 – Akihabara (souvenir day)

Not much here to update with. We went back to Akihabara today to do some souvenir shopping, so there aren’t any pics to show unfortunately. So really today is just here to let you know we’re still alive. Besides shopping, and walking for 7 hrs we had some good cheap rice bowls and found lots of new anime to obtain and watch. Thats all for today, sorry to disappoint. Here’s a pic of a vending machine that serves 1, 20 oz cans of Coke, and 2, also serves hot soup.
